My computer contracted these viruses yesterday and i would like to know how i can destroy these damn things without having to format my hard drive. Please do not suggest a system restore as the restore feature was not active when this happened. I am running winxp pro. thank you, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I check out same websites every day, yahoo, neopets, webshots and deviantart.But spybot search&destroy finds smitfraud c toolbar every day.I keep deleting and spybot always says its gone but it keeps coming back..

I’m asking through another pc. My infected pc is in safemode. It holds 80 gb but 40 gb is filled. Its already taken 2 hours. Norton antivirus scan is also running and it has also not finished.

ok…when i had (IE defender pops-ups) coming..I came on yahoo answers on how to get rid of it…I used smitfraud fix…now after I did the safe mode..and returned to normal mode…got rid the spyware (IE defender)..but my screen is still blue…and I have no sound on my computer..why is that? I just downloaded and cleaned my computer with the SmitfraudFix program and it didn’t get rid of the infection. That red circle with the white “X” in it is still there and I have no idea how to get rid of the infection. Please someone help me.

I know it’s malware so please don’t write a paragraph explaining why not to download it.

i have a computer that was hit with the smitfraud virus. i have an external hard drive that backs up my computer. Is it possible for the smitfraud to travel to and affect my external hard drive?
