Anti-Malware Website Started by Elwood Businessman – Anderson Free Press
ELWOOD, IN - Al Jordan - also known in some circles as The Computer Dude - has been running a successful computer repair business in Elwood, Indiana for several years. Recently, he decided to run a website to help his customers even when he's not around. The site - Malware Dude - contains free anti-virus and anti-spyware software, registry and drive cleaners, removal tools, burning software, computer drivers, back-up programs, image programs and more. You can also get the latest versions of Flash, Adobe Reader, and more easily.
"I started Malwaredude.com because so many people at my store kept asking me where to get an antivirus or spyware program at and since there are several good free programs available on the net today I thought I would consolidate all the links for them in one place," Jordan said.
"This cuts down on Google and other searches that usually lead my customers to pages with big download buttons that when clicked simply take you to yet another page full of ads. Looking for good free software on the internet that won't infect your computer itself is getting harder to do these days."
Jordan is not new to the virus game. He has been helping others with computers for 16 years. Now, customers - and others - can get his help and wisdom without his having to be around. For those who want to stay safe on the Internet, this is a great website to help.
Spyware and "malware" has become a huge problem over the last few years, Jordan said. With more and more people getting online, the scammers are having a field day.
"It's even tough for people like me," he said, laughing.
If your computer is acting up and you want to get some tips on software you should install to stay safe, head on over to MalwareDude.com, where you can find everything you need - and then some - for protecting your computer and staying safe online. The website is relatively new, but Jordan said he plans to keep adding great content to keep it up to date.
"The Internet can be a dangerous place. I just like helping keep people safe," Jordan said.
In 2007, Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) received 206,884 complaints of web-based crimes according to a report they released. With even more people online these days, the number has gotten worse, not better. With people like Jordan fighting the good fight - trying to help consumers before they need his services - hopefully things will get better as the Internet evolves.
