Leevi Olkonen was hired as network administrator for managed services clients. He is responsible for monitoring and trouble-shooting server and backup alerts. He also resolves server issues such as Internet connectivity and application problems. Olkonen was raised in Ironwood, Mich., and graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Ashland with an associate degree in computer networking. He has four years of information technology support experience in an enterprise business
environment.
Tim Salmonson was hired as a service desk engineer for managed services clients. He is responsible for troubleshooting computer and network problems, ranging from Microsoft Office issues to virus removal and other application concerns. He also is responsible for troubleshooting VOIP phone system issues. Salmonson is a Denfeld High School
graduated and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Minnesota Duluth in May.
announced Brian Anders was hired as south central regional sales manager. Anders has a wealth of industry experience, having worked for two attachment manufacturers and a major, heavy construction equipment distributor in the Houston area. He will cover the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Mississippi. He will work out of his home office in the Houston area.
Bottoms specializes in personal financial planning for business owners and professionals across northern Minnesota. He focuses on estate planning, business succession planning, employee benefits and wealth management strategies. Bottoms achieved membership in the Million Dollar Round Table this year.
Allison Hale was hired to teach fifth grade. Hale graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in 2004 with a degree in secondary education and a minor in history. She served as youth director at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin, Minn., and previously taught social studies at the Genoa-Hugo school in Hugo, Colo. She lives in Duluth.
Dawn Witherill was hired as a teachers’ aide in the first-grade
classroom. Witherill graduated from the University of Minnesota and spent five years working for different businesses. She lives in Duluth.
Amos Tarfa was hired to teach high school math and science. Tarfa was born in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria, and attended school in that country before moving to the U.S. to attend the University of Wisconsin-
Superior. He graduated with degrees in chemistry and philosophy. Tarfa has published two books and teaches Sunday school at Mount of Olives Baptist Church in Duluth.
Heidi Wright was hired to teach sixth grade. Wright graduated from Bethel University and previously taught in the Grand Rapids school district and at Lakeview Christian Academy. In addition to teaching, Wright gives piano lessons and speaks at local women’s events.
John Rosasco was hired to provide janitorial services at Lakeview Christian Academy. He graduated from the University of California Davis in
1990 with a degree in political science and lives in Cloquet.
Nancy Herman was hired as a teachers’ aide in the kindergarten classroom. Herman graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1982 and attended UWS. She lives in Superior.
Gretchen Safstrom was hired to teach middle school French. She graduated with a degree in political science from Arizona State University in 1995 and lives in Duluth.
Bonnie Jusczak was hired to teach home economics classes in sewing and quilting. Jusczak graduated from Hermantown High School in 1979 and has
education in organizational behavior, and sewing and quilting. For the past
12 years she has been sewing and quilting professionally. Jusczak lives in
Duluth.

BOARD ELECTIONS
Krug, co-director, Masters in Advocacy and Political Leadership, owns Krug Consulting and Mediation and is a professor in the Communication Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She holds a doctorate in communication, a master’s degree in speech communication and recently was appointed to the Commission on Judicial Selection by Gov. Mark Dayton.
Foucault owns and operates Points North Consulting Inc. He is a graduate of the College of St. Scholastica and is an active member of Greenstone Entrepreneur Development and Duluth Rotary Club.
Hansen, director of the UMD Center for Economic Development, also is regional director of the Northeast Minnesota Small Business Development
Center. She has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth and is co-founder of the Duluth Professional Women’s Network.

Network. Tietz operates an independent practice and is on the staff at the Virginia Regional Medical Center.
Tietz graduated from St. Olaf College and the University of Chicago Medical School and interned at Minneapolis General Hospital (now Hennepin County Medical Center). He completed his OB/GYN residency with the University of Minnesota hospital system. He has practiced in Virginia for 46 years, and his area of expertise is minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
