GRAND OPENING: New business in Columbia – Columbia Daily Tribune

Owners: Tyson Boldan and Blake Graham-Henderson

Phone: 355-2698

E-mail: tekdoc@thetekdoc.com

Website: thetekdoc.com

Nature of services offered: TekDoc does at-home computer repair and virus removal as well as offers computer parts, custom-built computers, networking and Web programming.

Opened: April

Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily by appointment

Costs: Repair costs $75 per hour. Call for custom computer and Web programming quotes.

Reason for location: “We do keep a large inventory of PC parts and materials, but one of the many benefits of having a service that goes to the customer is the savings in brick-and-mortar costs that can be given directly back to our customers,” Boldan said.

Owner’s experience: The owners have 17 years of computer repair, networking and programming experience.

Clientele: “Our clientele includes everything from small business, organizations, individuals who need repair, all the way down to the nitty-gritty gamers looking for an affordable high-end customized computer platform,” Boldan said.

Origin of name: “Because our business is oriented around fixing your computer’s ‘aches and pains,’ the name TekDoc, short for Technical Doctor, seemed appropriate,” Boldan said.

Customer appeal: Boldan said the duo’s combination of convenience, experience and cost-effectiveness is the firm’s main appeal.

Why take the plunge now? “We decided that now was a good time to start our business because computer technology has become such a staple in the day-to-day workings of the average person, and the repair market in Columbia has simply been outpaced by the need,” Boldan said.

Future plans: Boldan said creating relationships with customers is important. “It is nice to have people you can trust when you need any type of repair — be it auto, home or computer,” he said. “We want to build that trusting relationship with our customers and create a business that becomes a cornerstone of Columbia technology repair.”
