How To Remove Antivirus Suite Virus (Removal Guide) – Free PC Guides (blog)
Antivirus Suite is an odd name for a virus, but this rogue anti-spyware (some people might call it ransmoware, fake antivirus, or just a virus) has been infecting quite a lot of computers lately. Here is a free guide in how to remove/delete the Antivirus Suite virus, but first, let's find out more how Antivirus Suite got on your computer and what it does once there.
First of all, you should know that the Antivirus Suite virus gets installed on your computer via trojans that you downloaded online. Once the trojan gets on your computer, it will automatically install Antivirus Suite and it will program it to start automatically each time you restart your computer.
The first time the Antivirus Suite virus runs, it will perform a fake scan of your computer. Obviously, you should not believe any of the reports given by Antivirus Suite. When you try to remove some of these fake infections, you will be told that you have to buy Antivirus Suite first.
NOTE: Do not buy Antivirus Suite! It is a scam, and the only thing you need to do is remove it from your computer.
This is not all the damage the Antivirus Suite does. By changing your proxy server settings for Internet Explorer and Internet connections, the Antivirus Suite not only makes sure that you won't be able to browse the web and learn how to remove it, but it also prevent any legitimate anti-virus solution you might have from updating itself.
In addition, the Antivirus Suite virus will prevent a lot of applications from running and all you'll get is a message stating that the app is infected. Moreover, the Antivirus Suite virus will show all sorts of fake security messages and alerts on your desktop. Remember: these are all fake and their only purpose is to trick you into believing you have a problem with your computer and that you should pay for Antivirus Suite.
So now that you know what Antivirus Suite is and what this virus does, it's time to uninstall Antivirus Suite from your computer.
First of all, you should probably print out this Antivirus Suite removal guide as you will be required to close all open windows and applications during the removal process.
1. Restart your computer into Safe Mode with Networking and log in using the username and password combination you normally use.
2. Because the Antivirus Suite virus changes you proxy settings, you will have to clean those up just so you can download the tools you need. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools and then click Internet Options.
3. Now go to the Connections tab and click the LAN Settings button in the bottom half of the window. In the window that pops up, uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN box and click OK.
4. Now, before we begin removing Antivirus Suite, we'll have to terminate the process. For that, you should download rkill.com and save it on your desktop.
5. Close all open windows and applications. Now that you are at the desktop, run rkill.com (please note that Antivirus Suite might tell you that rkill.com is infected, but you should not worry about this) several times until it works. If the warning I mentioned above appears, it might work if you leave the warning up and just run rkill.com again. Just persevere, and you will be able to close the Antivirus Suite process.
6. Now you can remove Antivirus Suite using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Here is more info on how to remove viruses using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
This should do the trick. Please note that this rogue behaves differently on other computers, so we might not have covered your specific problem. If that's the case, please leave a comment and I (or other Free PC Guides readers) might be able to come up with something.
