The Antivirus Vista 2010 virus (or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus or XP Internet Security 2010 virus – depending on the OS you are using) is a highly aggressive rogue spyware that has been spreading around the web like crazy in the past week. The Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus (and its brothers), once installed on your computer (the means are the same: infected video codecs or flash updates), will pretend to be an Automatic Updates installed software. This way, it tries to trick you into believing Win 7 Antispyware 2010 is a legitimate software, designed to protect your computer. Instead, this suite of 2010 rogues (some prefer to call them viruses) will block any legitimate antivirus suite. It manages to accomplish this by launching itself each time the user runs an executable file. If the file you are running is deemed as safe for the Antivirus Vista 2010, it will be allowed to run. If not (meaning it’s a legitimate anti-virus suite), the application will be blocked.
Another technique used by Antivirus Vista 2010, Win 7 Antispyware 2010, and XP Internet Security 2010 viruses is the altering of Firefox and Internet Explorer so that when you try to open the browser, a fake firewall warning is displayed instead. In addition, Antivirus Vista 2010 (and its brothers) will claim that any website is a security risk for your computer, and that it will not be allowed to be browsed. Just like any other rogue, these viruses will perform fake scans of your computer and claim that your computer presents severe security risks. Again, these scans and their results are fake and meant only to trick the user.
All these techniques are meant to persuade the user into paying for the registered version of Antivirus Vista 2010, Win 7 Antispyware 2010 or XP Internet Security 2010. Remember that these are viruses, and that you should remove them from your computer as soon as possible. DO NOT buy XP Internet Security 2010, Antivirus Vista 2010 or Win 7 Antispyware 2010. How to remove the XP Internet Security 2010 virus, Antivirus Vista 2010 virus or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus:
Because the XP Internet Security 2010 virus (Antivirus Vista 2010 virus or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus – depending on the OS your are running, as they are exactly the same virus, with altered names) will pose numerous problems in downloading the files (and even viewing this removal guide), you’ll have to use a secondary computer to download the needed files, and then use an USB stick to transfer them to the infected computer.
Step 1 : Go to our download page here and download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (we will further call it MBAM) and then transfer it to the USB flash drive.
Step 2: Download the registry fix here (developed by bleepingcomputer) and transfer it to the USB stick also.
Step 3: Now connect the USB stick to the infected computer. It is very important that you get the XP Internet Security 2010 virus, Antivirus Vista 2010 virus, or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus running. If it is not already, run an executable file from your computer.
Step 4: Run the FixExe.reg file. When asked click “Yes” to add the data to your computer.
Step 5: Now run the mbam-setup.exe file (one trick that works when dealing with rogues such as this one is to rename the setup for MBAM before running it. For instance, rename mbam-setup.exe to “softsailor.exe” and then run it).
Step 6: Proceed with the normal MBAM installation. When you are able to check the “Update MBAM” and “Launch MBAM” boxes, please do so.
Step 7: Once MBAM is up and running, go to the main scanner tab, select the quick scan and press the scan button. Now please wait as MBAM will scan your computer for any traces of Antivirus Vista 2010 virus (or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus or XP Internet Security 2010 virus – depending on the OS you are using).
Step 8: When the scan is complete, hit the “Show Results” button. Select all the detected infections and click “Remove Selected”. MBAM will now remove any malware it found on your computer.
Step 9: When MBAM has finished removing XP Internet Security 2010 virus, Antivirus Vista 2010 virus, or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus and any other malware it detected, a scan log will open in Notepad. Review this file if you want, then close it.
Now you should have successfully removed XP Internet Security 2010 virus, Antivirus Vista 2010 virus, or Win 7 Antispyware 2010 virus from your computer.
