Malware Endemic Entraps Noble Floridians – SPAMfighter News
According to Ryan Malize, Computer Expert of Pinellas Computers at Bay area, Florida, a new malware over flooded hundreds of computers in different counties of Florida and beyond, reports wtsp on July 23, 2011.
This super virus called scareware is a form of computer malware, which has several variations. These programs are designed in such manner to fool a recipient into thinking it a real program, though in reality, the computer is not infected and completely safe.
The super virus pops up to warn netizens about a fake virus that requires immediate attention for complete removal towards proper functioning of the system.
The virus triggers the users at clicking on the virus removal message window and entraps them into inviting virus onto their PCs. This single click, guides a visitor and takes them to a site charging US$ 59-99 for completely removing the virus from their system.
Malize however agreed the fact that over the past couple of months, the virus had spread like an epidemic.
While commenting on the outbreak of the virus and its huge success, security experts opined on the fact that scareware and rogue programs fetches fast, easy money compared to their counterpart Trojans or any other online businesses. The rogues just wait anxiously to earn money once the dissemination of the virus is undertaken successfully. They just wait for the ignorant users trapped by them, who are willing to pay immediately for virus removal. The irony of the fact is even worst as these programs are not even detected easily by anti virus engines.
While consoling users about the attack, experts provided few handy tips, of which the most important one is to keep one's cool and not to panic. Secondly, one should not pay any charge or provide credit card details online. Rather, one should get legitimate anti virus installed on their PCs and wait for the situation to get into control.
Furthermore, though there is no end to this virus havoc, half the battle can be won by installing security updates and remaining vigilant towards future spams as someone has rightly claimed that "prevention is better than cure".
