Mosquito Breeding Site Removal – HQ Kelowna

| When: | October 22 2011 |
| Time: | 10:30 am |
| Where: | George Elliot Secondary School |
Almost 1,800 potential mosquito breeding sites have been removed since the start of the free Regional District tire collection program. And this coming weekend there are two more opportunities for property owners to drop off any old tires for free recycling disposal.
This Saturday, October 22nd between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm BWP Consulting staff will be on hand to collect old tires (with or without rims) for recycling in Lake Country at George Elliot Secondary School (10241 Bottom Wood Lake Road) and in Kelowna at parking lot #17 behind Okanagan College (1000 KLO Road).
If you’re not able to make any of these tire recycling collection events, please call 1-866-679-TIRE (8473) and book an appointment to arrange a convenient time to pick up any old tires for recycling.
During collection events last weekend in Peachland and West Kelowna, the RDCO West Nile/Mosquito Control contractor collected more than 420 old tires that people had sitting around their properties. Each tire, whether with a rim or not, could hold enough water that would breed mosquitoes that may carry and transmit the West Nile Virus.
Another 14 hundred old tires have been picked up by the staff at BWP Consulting from people who were not able to attend the two collection events and called to make an appointment.
