New business in Newton to fix ’sick’ computers – Newton Kansan
Is your computer sick, sluggish or suffering from a virus?
If so, you might need to call a doctor — a computer doctor, that is.
Chris and Deanna Hall operate The Computer DoctoRx, a business at 106 W. Broadway in Newton.
“If your computer’s sick, call a ‘doctor,’” Deanna said. “Look at us as the doctor’s office or the emergency room for your PC.”
The business officially opened Aug. 10, but it’s not the first time the Halls have operated a computer business in the Newton area.
The business originally was located in North Newton (from 1999 to 2006), then moved to Oklahoma.
“We decided we wanted to come back to Newton because we liked it better here,” Chris said.
The Halls offer repairs for Macs and PCs, both in their shop and on-site. They offer networking and virus removal services, and they do work for individuals and businesses. They even offer emergency after-hours repair.
“Pretty much anything that you would need done on your computer,” Deanna said.
Through Sept. 14, they are offering free diagnostics for computers. They will run a test on your computer and look for anything that may need to be fixed.
The Halls said they enjoy working in the computer industry because it always is changing and there always is something new to learn.
“It’s constantly evolving and challenging,” Chris said. “Everything changes quickly.”
They said they came back to Newton because they liked the town’s welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere.
“Family’s really important to us,” Deanna said. “We’re family-owned and operated.”
Their daughter, Stephanie McAlister, a senior in high school, even helps out in the shop. She said she’s enjoyed learning more about computers and is even thinking about pursuing a career in the industry.
“Computers are definitely something that’s interesting,” she said.
For more information about the business, call 804-4002 or 284-1206.
The business is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
