New Computer Repair Store Helps Customers Avert Crisis – Patch.com
Move over, Geek Squad. There’s a new computer repair shop in town.
Since Oct. 1, Computer Crisis, LLC has occupied 37319 Detroit Road, and offered everything from data recovery to setting up websites for small businesses to selling refurbished computers, owner James Chesna said.
“At least two people come in every day for help with their computers,” Chesna said, adding that at least one of those customers are seeking to rid their computer of a virus. “By far, virus removal is our most popular service.”
Computer Crisis began in 2007 in Valley City, west of Brunswick in Medina County, and did not have a storefront, Chesna said. The business relied solely on house calls and on-site maintenance.
Chesna opened the Avon storefront to fill a niche he believed is going unfilled.
“I want to focus a little more on residential repairs, and other than the Best Buy, there’s no other option in this area,” said Chesna, an Avon resident.
Chesna offers repairs on both Mac and PC laptops and desktops.
On desktops, he said he’ll do anything, but laptops are a different story. He offers software and some hardware repair on PCs, and only software on Macs. He said he refers customers seeking a service he doesn’t offer to a business in Avon Lake.
Computer Crisis also does speed boosts and pop-up blocking services, which Chesna said are common requests. The storefront is filled with refurbished laptops and desktops for sale, and Chesna has his eyes set on tablets, such as the iPad, but there’s one catch – someone has to bring one in first.
“Those things are so new that a lot of people aren’t really having problems with them yet,” he said.
Computer Crisis, LLC is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
