Small Business Q&A: Computer Rescue – Patch.com

Dallas-Hiram Patch Editor Jon Gargis recently talked with Steven Redmond, the owner of Computer Rescue.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: How long have you been operating?

Steven Redmond: Nearly two years, with 10 years working experience.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: How many employees do you have?

Steven Redmond: Myself (fulltime) and one part-time employee.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: What's the hardest thing about being a small-business owner in Paulding County?

Steven Redmond: We contend with two issues primarily. One, being the more common is public awareness of my company. The second is keeping up with demand at times. Very few customers go elsewhere once they hear about our customer service and low prices. At times, the demand for our services can feel overwhelming, but it’s a good feeling to have.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: What's the best thing about your job?

Steven Redmond: The people. I got into this business not because I wanted fame or fortune. I got into this business because I grew tired of hearing the horror stories from friends and family being ripped off and misguided by local big chains and small “mom & pop” stores. I realized that with my skills and experience, I had the opportunity to create a company that would always put the “human element” first.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: What's the best thing about Paulding County?

Steven Redmond: Being a native of Hiram and Paulding County, I find the rich history coupled with the diverse and often unique people of Paulding makes living and working here exciting and rewarding. There isn’t one thing that is more special than the other as Paulding in its entirety is quite special, and I personally am proud to call it home.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: Why did you choose to open up your business in Paulding County?

Steven Redmond: I considered other areas but when it was all said and done, I always returned to Paulding. Why? Because I grew up in Paulding and the people and places are important to me. I wanted to take care of my community by providing services at a very affordable price but also taking care of those in need and always remembering that without my customers, Computer Rescue could not be successful.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: Why did you pick this particular kind of business?

Steven Redmond: I felt a need to give back to the community. With years of experience and skills in computers and technology, it seemed like a perfect fit. Not only would I spend my days around familiar technology, but it would allow me the opportunity to help others by easing the burden of high repair costs, giving sound advice and providing exceptional customer care to my community. In other words, taking the hassles and frustrations out of owning a computer.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: What are some of the services you offer that people don't know about?

Steven Redmond: We offer many of the usual services such as virus removal, tune-ups and parts repair. However, we also offer flat-screen monitor repair, data recovery, remote support and even custom Facebook pages. We are capable of working with just about any technology in just about any application. In fact, we are so diverse that many claim us as their very own personal IT professional.

Dallas-Hiram Patch: Is there anything else you would like to share about your business?

Steven Redmond: We are always seeking ways to give back to our community. Often you’ll find us at a local fundraiser, festival, or public event giving away prizes. However, earlier this year we did the unprecedented—we announced a continuous 20-percent discount to all active military and Paulding County public safety personnel. Many have already taken advantage of the huge savings, and it is our hope that we can continue this steep discount for the men and women who keep our streets and country safe.
