Spyware Protect 2009 is malware that is normally installed in association with the Conficker virus. The Conficker worm, which was unbelievably rampant, would install this software, and would attempt to scare the user into purchasing a full version. Spyware Protect is not real removal software. It can’t be trusted. And if you suspect you have this infection, you must delete it quickly before your system files become corrupt.

Common Signs of Infection: The most common signs of an infection are:

Slow system performance Pop ups and/or pop unders Taskbar warnings System freezes and crashes Browser hijacks How To Get Rid of Spyware Protect 2009

As I said earlier, an infection of Spyware Protect 2009 means you most likely have a conficker infection as well. To get rid of this tag team of computer destruction isn’t easy, but it can be done.

Manual Removal

To remove this virus manually requires a keen eye for questionable registry files. I do not recommend a beginner attempt this. You will need to enter into your system’s LOCAL_HKEY_USER folder and spot out all DLL and LNK files with the Spyware Protect name or Sysguard name. You will then have to block all related sites, such as adwareguard.net and antivguardian.com. Then you must stop all related processes and delete all related files. If you make one single mistake, the virus will re-install itself at the next start-up.

Automatic Removal. It Just Works.

Because manual removal is so treacherous, I advise all my colleagues, friends, and clients to use automatic removal tools. I don’t have enough hours in the day to manually remove viruses from every computer I fix. I prefer to use automatic tools. For me it’s a no-brainer.
